Mae Dobie, 99, of Girard, died at 10:05 a.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Heritage Nursing Home in Girard.
She was born August 18, 1913 in Scammon, Kansas, a daughter of Wilson and Margaret E. (Bruce) Dobie. She attended schools in Girard and graduated from Girard High School in 1931.
She worked at the Internal Revenue Service in Wichita, Kansas from 1942 until 1972. She returned to Girard in January of 1987.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Girard and the Wichita Chapter No. 138 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
She enjoyed reading, politics, and traveling.
Survivors are a brother, Wilson Dobie of Girard; sisters Wilma Thorn of Independence, Kansas and Jeanette Ford of Girard; three nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Isabelle Smith, Katherine Dobie, and Lucille Mayberry, and a niece, Janice Smith.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. Burial will be in the Girard Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and these may be left at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, 518 W St. John, Box 258, Girard, 66743.
