Doris L. Kirkendoll, age 92, Joplin, passed away at 1:18 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Mercy Hospital.
Doris was born May 17, 1920 in Crestline, Kansas to the late William Moore and Elizabeth Evans Moore. She had lived in Joplin the past 44 years, moving from Pittsburg, Kansas.
She worked as a school teacher until she started a family of her own. She then devoted her time to her husband and three children. Doris was a former member of the Columbus Country Club and the Eastern Star. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Doris married C.M. Kirkendoll on June 30, 1940 in Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 20, 1999.
Survivors include her children, Gregg Kirkendoll, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Dennis Kirkendoll, Joplin, Debra Kirkendoll Callihan, Las Vegas, Nevada; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services are planned for Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Nancy Hutson will officiate. Interment will follow in Baxter Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time Saturday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
