PITTSBURG —
Paula G. Atkinson, 55, of Pittsburg, Kan., passed away January 17, 2013, at home following a three-year battle with cancer. She was born Aug. 4, 1957 in Pittsburg, the daughter of John Holly Beecham and Donna Jean (Hoy) Bower.
She married Keith Atkinson on Sept. 22, 1978 in Miami, Okla. She worked as a medical secretary at the Via Christi cancer center in Pittsburg. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg.
She is survived by her husband; children, Ryan Atkinson, of Pittsburg, Trever Atkinson and wife Samantha, of Columbus, Kan., Brian Atkinson and wife Jacque of Arma, Kan., and Kristy Jones and husband Greg of Scammon, Kan.; grandchildren Karley and Kerri Jones and Laney and Cole Atkinson; a step-father, Cloyd Bower, of Pittsburg; a sister, Lanna Bower, of Keller, Texas; and step-siblings Calvin Bower, of Carthage, Mo., Marvin Bower, of Pittsburg, and Kim Weber, of Pittsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Doug Beecham; a sister, Pamela Jaeger; and a grandson, Joseph Todd Atkinson.
Funeral Services will be 10am Monday January 21, 2013 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor Jim Sukraw officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Crocker Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will receive friends from 6-7pm Sunday January 20, 2013 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the Angels Among Us. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS.
