Cattina May Tavernaro, 31 of Frontenac died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday August 5th at her home following a lengthy illness.
She was born August 7, 1976 in Pittsburg, Kan., the daughter of John (Tommy) and Barbara (Jackson) Tavernaro. She was a lifetime resident of the Frontenac area, she attended Frontenac Schools and was a 1995 graduate of Frontenac High School. She was a 2001 graduate of Ft Scott Community College.
Cattina worked for Kids Corner Day Care in Arma; she worked at the Lighthouse Tabernacle Nursery; she worked for SKIL and was an independent care giver in homes for several families in the Pittsburg area. She also helped in the family business Tavernaro Auction.
She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church in Weir, a former member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle in Pittsburg. While in high school Cattina won several awards in photography.
Survivors include her parents John (Tommy) and Barbara Tavernaro of the home; her loving pet dog Zoley; several aunts, uncles, cousins; her maternal grandparents Joe Jackson of Franklin and Norma Whetzell of Pittsburg. She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents Tom and Cattina Tavernaro; paternal grandfather Angelo Tavernaro, paternal grandmother Dorothy Dodds and maternal great-grandmother Pauline Orender.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday August 9th at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg with Pastor James Fellers officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where friends may call after noon on Friday. The casket will remain closed at all times.
