William Lee Jacobberger Sr., (Jake) age 70 of rural Columbus, Kan., passed away on Sunday June 29, 2008 at the St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was born July 14, 1937 at Omaha, Neb. The son of Leo and Dorothy (Brock) Jacobberger. Jake was preceeded in death by his father, brother, and sister. Bill was married to his wife Pat for 50 years. They married in Overland Park, on July 3, 1958. They had five children, Michael Jacobberger, William Lee Jacobberger, Jr., Patti (Jacobberger) Roark, Jeffrey Jacobberger, Valori (Jacoberger) Richardson. A grandson, Shawn Jacobberger resides in the home, and is a sophomore at Columbus High School. Jake had many other grandchildren and great grandchildren. Columbus has been their home for over 30 years. Jake was in the Marine corp., for nine and one-half years. He worked for Spencer Chemical Gulf Oil, and was a plant manager of the NCN Plant, and Sherman Plant for several years. He drove over the road until he suffered a massive stroke fifteen years ago and was no longer able to work, then retired later on. He was a wonderful family man and will be sadly missed by his family.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday July 2, 2008 at the Simpson Funeral Home in Columbus, with Dennis Johnson, Minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Edgmand Cemetery Northwest of Columbus. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Simpson Funeral Home.
