Bonna Jean Crowl passed away peacefully on November 11 at Kansas City Hospice with her family by her side. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, December 15th at 1:30pm at the Church of the Resurrection, Wesley Chapel, 13720 Roe Avenue, Leawood, Kansas. A reception with the family will immediately follow the service in the youth center. Bonna Jean Crowl was born on January 18, 1935. She was the only child of Rose Marie Podboy and Earnest John Masquelier. She spent her childhood years in Pittsburg, Kansas and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1953. Following High School, she met her husband and the love of her life of 55 years, Frankie Don Crowl. She was a very proud mother to her three boys; Frank David, Kent Eugene and John Charles. In 1967, the family moved to Overland Park, Kansas where she raised her family and continued to live with Frankie in the family home on Russell Street. While they maintained their home in Overland Park, Bonna Jean always had a passion for her roots in Pittsburg.
She and Frankie loved the time that they spent together at their second home in Frontenac, Kansas either by themselves or entertaining friends and family. Her family grew over the years to include 3 wonderful daughter-in-laws (Laura, Cathy and Becky) and 14 grandchildren. She loved and cherished her family, the family vacations and the time spent together. Bonna Jean Crowl lived her life to the fullest, a blessing to everyone around her, and always willing to put others ahead of herself. She blessed us with her kindness and the unconditional love for her husband, family, friends and neighbors.
While kind and gentle, she was a tough woman committed to her principles and causes.
No matter the circumstances, she always remained positive and supportive. Her footprints have been left on the lives of many and she will be missed dearly. Bonna Jean had many interests including an unending passion for collectables and bargains. She cherished the opportunities to go exploring for bargains or the latest collectables with her friends. Her passion turned into a career and lifelong friendships when she found a home at Tuesday Morning. Bonna Jean will be missed dearly, but will always be in our hearts.
