John (Johnnie) Kotzman 92, of Frontenac, KS died 9:30 p.m. Saturday November 14, 2009 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, KS following a long illness.
Johnnie was born August 7, 1917 in Frontenac, KS to Anton Peter and Mary Ann (Schramm) Kotzman.  He attended area schools in Frontenac; graduating from Frontenac High School in 1935.
He served in the United States Army as a sergeant with the 13th Airborne Division with the 36th Glider Infantry serving time in Europe from 1942-1945.  He received the Good Conduct Metal, European African Theatre Ribbon, the Bronze Battle Star and the Service Stripe.  He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post 43 Frontenac, Kansas.  He was of the Catholic Faith.
He retired in 1980 with 21 years of service to the Shakeproof Tool Works in Elgin, Illinois.  He later moved back to Frontenac to retire and be close to family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son John Joseph II, five sisters Marie Dabrowski, Barbara Bell, Christine Berteau, Helen Plouvier and Katherine Squillace; brothers Anton Jr., Leonard and Joseph Kotzman.
Survivors include his wife Evelyn (Kelly) Kotzman of the home; brother Edward Kotzman of Springfield, TN; daughters Connie Cummins of Pittsburg, KS, Cyndi Kotzman of Neosho, MO, Lucinda Turner of Hutchinson, KS; son Kurt Kotzman of Frontenac, KS; step-son Jim Bolinger of Mulvane, KS; grandchildren Kellie McCulley, Shana Turner, Todd Cummins, Dail Cummins, Katie Kotzman, Kyle Kotzman; great-grandchildren Mollie McCully Chloe McCulley; and a host of nieces, nephews and special extended family at Sunset Manor Nursing Home who’s care was exceptional.
Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday November 18, 2009 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac, KS with Fr. Robert Spencer officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Frontenac, KS where Full Military Honors will be conducted.  Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the Friskel Funeral Home.  Friends may call after 1 p.m. on Tuesday.  In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the American Legion Post 43 Frontenac, KS.  Friends are asked to drop off or mail memorials to Friskel Funeral Home 230 E.
