Christine Fogarty, 97, formerly of Pittsburg, KS, went to live with Jesus Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Health and Rehab Center.
She was born November 13, 1912 in Pittsburg, Kansas, to John Albert and Christine Jernigan Nichols. She was raised in Pittsburg and attended college at Kansas State Teachers College.
She was united in marriage in 1937 to Charles Fogarty and they enjoyed each other for over 66 years. He preceded her in death March 1, 2003. Christine earned her pilots license on October 10, 1949. Women pilots were not common in those days. Christine and Charles spent many hours flying a small plane, traveling in their camper, and enjoyed getting together with family and friends.
Mrs. Fogarty was a life time member of Saint Peters Episcopal Church.
