Irene Jones, 87, of Pittsburg, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her residence.

She was born May 23, 1925, at Midway, KS, to Dewey and Cecil (Schmidt) Duff. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1943.

On September 16, 1945, she married Warren Jones at Pittsburg, KS. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1991.

Mrs. Jones worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Mt Carmel Hospital and as a Caregiver.

Membership was held in the Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and was the church secretary. She was also past member of the American Legion Auxiliary.      Survivors include two daughters, Linda Howell and her husband Newton of Pittsburg, KS and Teri VanBecelaere and husband Greg of Pittsburg, KS; three grandchildren, Jodi Bowles and her husband Justin of Clovis, NM, Jami Burton and her husband Pat of Wellsville, KS, and Staci Kramer and her husband Jeff of Clive, IA; Five great-grandchildren, Grace Showalter, Jackson Showalter, Hannah Kramer, Emily Kramer, and Gavin Kramer; Two brothers Jack Duff of Lockwood, MO, and Jim Duff of Sacramento, CA.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a brother Harold Duff and a sister Deloris Boscarino.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Reverend Glen A. Duderstadt officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Camp Hertko Hollow for Diabetic Children and/or Juvenile Diabetes Association. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.  Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
