Rhoda Marie McClintick, 85 of Girard, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the West Ridge Assisted living facility in Girard.
Rhoda was born July 13, 1927 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of John C. Meyer and Pearl (McWilliams) Meyer.
Rhoda attended school in Girard; graduating from Girard High school.
On June 12, 1946, Rhoda and William (Bill) McClintick were united in marriage in the First Baptist Church of Girard. He preceded her in death on November 16, 1999
Rhoda was a homemaker; an accomplished artist, working primarily in wood pictures that depicted outdoor scenes, and she served as a volunteer for many organizations.
Rhoda loved to travel; the Smokey Mountains were her favorite. Her travels allowed her to sell her pictures as well as sharing her magnetic personality with all she met.
Rhoda was very active as a 4-H leader, she also enjoyed and was active in Gem Seekers; Home Extension and the Girard Hospital Board.
In 1971 Rhoda and Bill were named American Royal Farm Family of the Year and in 1976 they were honored as Master Farmer and Master Homemaker.
Rhoda was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard.
Survivors include a son; John William McClintick and wife Sue of rural Walnut, KS; a daughter Shari Robertson and husband John of Rockwall, TX.; one brother, Richard (Dick) Meyer of San Angelo, TX. Rhoda is also survived by four grandchildren; Michelle Perrin; Jill McClintick; Brenna Robertson and Clint Robertson; two great-grandchildren; Shanna Stout and Tanner Stout.
In addition to her husband, Rhoda was preceded in death by an infant brother, John C. Meyer.
Services for Rhoda Marie McClintick will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, July 21 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Girard with Pastor Mark Wenzelburger officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to U.S.D. 248 Haderlien Elementary School Library or The National Parkinson’s Foundation; these can be left at the funeral home.
