Given E. Steinbauer, 82, passed away Friday, October 30, 2009 at his son’s home in Pittsburg where he has been living for the past four years.

He was born November 25, 1926, and was raised in Breezy Hill, attending #9 Union grade school and Mulberry High School.

He was a WWII veteran and most known as the “smiling bald headed guy with a big heart” who worked for, among others, Pepsi and True Value Home Center in Pittsburg.

He enjoyed polka dancing and speaking German.

On April 5, 1947, he married Deloris Maniez in Girard. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2005.

He is survived by a daughter, Patty McDonald of Chanute; a son, Given M. Steinbauer and his wife Jacque of Pittsburg; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Leo Steinbauer of Supply, NC and two nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Deloris; and a brother, Fred Steinbauer.

Cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
