Sherry Leah (Walker) Lanning, 43 of Pittsburg went to be with her mother at 4:02 p.m., July 16, 2008 at St. John’s Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born November 3, 1964 the daughter of Hubert “Gene” and Barbara (Parker) Walker. She attended area schools and graduated from the Columbus High School with the Class of 1983.
On January 28, 2000 she was united in marriage to Floyd O. “Pete” Lanning in Miami, OK.
Sherry worked for Mt. Carmel Hospital, Ace Electric in Columbus and Ron’s IGA.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Frontenac and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Rob Morris Chapter #74.
Survivors include her husband: Pete and beloved puppy Kati of the home, Father: Gene Walker of Scammon; two brothers: Mark Walker of Rogersville, MO and David Walker of Scammon; a sister Mary Jo Newcomb of Scammon and two nephews: Ty Walker and Jesse Newcomb.
She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Walker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Fr. Robert McElwee as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Hosey Hill Cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg. Family will receive friends following the rosary. Friends may also call at the home of Gene Walker 410 N. Hill St. in Scammon. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Church for Masses. These may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
