Patricia Ruth (Wills) Smith, 74, died at 3:30 P.M., Monday, November 16, 2009 at her residence at rural Hepler.
She was born February 16, 1935 in Pleasanton, Kansas, a daughter of Elmer David and Ruth (Jenkins) Wills. She attended schools in Pleasanton.
She married Vernon L. Smith on December 21, 1984 in Miami, Oklahoma. He survives of the home.
She was a restaurant cook in her earlier years and a caregiver in her later years, working in nursing homes and with home health.
She was a Baptist.
She was loved by family and friends and she loved raising flowers, gardening, and canning. She loved the country, and raising and watching chickens. A long camping trip or a trip to see the kids always put a smile on her face.
Survivors include daughters Roberta and Vickie and sons Robert and Larry; step-children are Wendy, Toni, Keith, Randy, Brian, Darren, and Colin; a brother Lester Wills, and a sister, Mary Ann Bradley; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and four brothers.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday at the Hepler Cemetery with Pastor Rick Prideaux officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Smith-Carson-Wall in Girard where friends may call after 1:00 P.M., Wednesday. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for services and burial.
