John Robert (Johnny Bob) Pallett, 85 lifelong resident and local gardener of Weir, KS died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday November 14, 2009 at the home of his daughter Diana in Cherokee.
He was born March 12, 1924 in Weir, KS the son of Fred and Mamie (Johnson) Pallett.  He lived in Weir his entire life and attended Weir Schools.
Johnny was a veteran of WWII serving his country in the United States Army.
He married Mary Marie Hamblin on March 25, 1950 in Bentonville, AR; she survives at the home.
Johnny worked as a gardener and grounds keeper from the early 70’s until the late 1980’s for Pittsburg State University.  On his own time he enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife Mary of the home; 2 daughters Diana Lovell and husband Jim of Cherokee; daughter Dixie Newberry and husband Michael of Columbus; a sister Dolores Torchia of Kansas City; 4 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Belle Christensen and Lorraine Majors.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday November 19, 2009 at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir with Aaron Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hosey Hill Cemetery where the Ft. Riley funeral honors detail team will conduct full military honors.  The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home in Weir where friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday.  Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com.  Memorial contributions can be made to  Angels Among Us, memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 104 W.
