Donna Josephine Smith, 56, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 2:02 p.m., Saturday, June 28, 2008, at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center, Pittsburg.
She was born September 16, 1951, at Girard, KS, the daughter of George Joseph and Pauline Augusta (Trout) Davied Jr. She attended school in Girard and graduated from Girard High School.
She was united in marriage to Gilbert “Pete” Smith, Sr. He survives of the home.
Mrs. Smith has resided in Crawford County for most of her life.
She was a homemaker.
Membership was held in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her Mother of Pittsburg, KS, and Father of Girard, KS, one son, Gilbert Allen Smith, Jr. of Pittsburg, KS, one daughter, Angelique Dawn Wells of Pittsburg, KS, five brothers, John William Davied of Lyndon, KS, George Robert Davied of Towanda, KS, Joseph Lewis Davied of Frontenac, KS, Michael Eugene Davied of Tucson, AZ, and Richard Dwayne Davied of Liberal, MO, five sisters, Sharon Marie Harris of Girard, KS, Charlotte Anne Pittman of Afton, OK, Mary Kathryn Davied of Pittsburg, KS, Cynthia Louise Hoffman of Pittsburg, KS, and Jennifer Sue Davied of Tulsa, OK, and three grandchildren, Johnathan, Brander, and Takara Martin of Pittsburg, KS.
She is preceded in death by two sisters, Joan Ellen Davied and Margret Hellen Davied.
Mass of Christian burial is set for 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Pittsburg, with Father Thomas Stroot as Celebrant. Mrs. Smith will be cremated following the service. Private family burial will be at a later date at the Girard City Cemetery, Girard, KS. A parish rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 p.m. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m., Monday, to sign the register book. The family suggests memorials to the Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Fund. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
