OPOLIS —

Helen Irene Seal, 95, of Opolis Kansas, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday July 17, 2008 at Medicalodge South in Pittsburg.
She was born March 10, 1913, at Cold Springs, MO in Douglas County, to Nathan Sherman and Luminda Amon Downs Ellis. She grew up in Douglas County and had lived in Opolis, Kansas most of her life except for five years in the late 1960’s when she lived in Chicago, IL.
She married Mac E. Seal December 5, 1931 at Barton City, MO. He preceded her in death on October 13, 1959. On March 5, 1966, she married George T. Seal. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2000.
Mrs. Seal was a homemaker.
Membership was held in the Opolis United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Seal is survived by a son, Norman Seal of Opolis, KS; a daughter, Maxine Miller of Asbury, MO; a step-daughter, Merleyne New of Mound City, KS; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Lloyd Seal and Larry Seal, four brothers John, Lester, Charlie, and Alpha Ellis, and five sisters Nellie Mason, Gladys Ellis, Pearl Hobson, Elva Hobson, and Alta Cannon.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Verl Strong officiating. Burial will be in the Crocker Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday to sign the register. Memorials may given to the Maggie Grebe Park in Opolis or the Opolis United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg. Friends may sign the register book and leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg.
