Lucille A. Machetta, 94 of Pittsburg died at 6:09 pm, Wednesday, May 7, 2008 at the Cornerstone Village in Pittsburg.
She was born April 16, 1914 in Norwood, MO the daughter of Harve and Carrie (Bain) Absher. She attended school in Weir, KS.
On Aug 28, 1932 she was united in marriage to James Machetta in Lamar, MO, he preceded her in death October 11, 1978.
Lucille worked as a receptionist for Dr. George Pogson at the downtown office and later moved to his new office on Centennial. She also worked at Tom Billings Grocery Store on 10th and Joplin, Otto’s Cafe’ and Annshire Garment Company.
She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include two daughters: Shirley Hawkins of Chicopee, Sandra Sparks of Yukon, OK; a son James A. Machetta of Lakehills, TX; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and an infant daughter Joyce June Machetta.
Graveside services will be 2 pm, Friday, May 9th, 2008 at the Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. James Hargett officiating. Family will receive friends one hour before service time at the funeral home.
