Leona Lee Emerson, 88 of Pittsburg died at 7:25 p.m. Wednesday June 6, 2012 at her home.

She was born November 27, 1923 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of Orville and Neva (Sills) Holloway. She was a graduate of Pittsburg High School.

Leona married Louis Junior Emerson on April 26, 1941 in Girard, KS; he preceded her in death on January 13, 2010.

Throughout her life and during her younger years she worked in various fields and locations in the SEK area; including Kansas Army Ammunition Plant, the Census Beuareu and was a personal care attendant for SKIL.

Leona was currently a member of the Open Door Fellowship Center in Pittsburg and a longtime member of the Pittsburg Afterglow Lighthouse.

Survivors include 2 sons Ron Emerson and wife Pat of Pittsburg, Tom Emerson and wife Sally of Garnett, a daughter Susan Adams and husband Frank of Pittsburg; a brother John Holloway and wife Joyce of Olathe; 10 grandchildren; and 19 Great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers Orville Jr., Norman and James Holloway, a sister Barbara Scifers, a granddaughter Kari Emerson Spiers and a grandson Eric Adams.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday June 12th at the Open Door Fellowship with Pastors Don Talent and Kent Morgan officiating.
