COLUMBUS —
Mary Beatrice (Fudge) Sandella, 89, of Columbus, died at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Mercy Maude Norton Hospital following a long illness.
She was born October 27, 1922, to Floyd and Irma (Baum) Fudge in Weir, KS. She attended Weir schools and graduated from Weir High School in 1940.
On October 26, 1944, she was united in marriage to Tony Sandella at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS. He preceded her in death June 18, 2007.
Mary worked at the ration office in Columbus during WWII where she met her future husband. She later worked for Adam's 5 & 10 and J.C. Penney until she retired when the store closed.
She was a member of Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego, KS.
Survivors include three daughters, Lucille McNemar and her husband Evan of Columbus. Toni Marie Wilkinson and her husband Morris of Springfield, MO and Sharon Corgan and her husband Craig of Yukon, OK., a sister Doris Veatch of Topeka, K.S, seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, Mildred Larsen-Jones. Erma Mae Lauderdale. Lois Pesek and Martha Lucille Fudge and a granddaughter, Jennifer McNemar.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Mother of God Catholic Church in Oswego with Father Larry Parker as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Columbus.
Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Columbus.
The family will receive friends following the rosary until 8:00 P.M. Condolences may be left at www.bathnaylor.com. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Columbus Community Foundation, Mother of God Catholic Church or Cherokee County Relay for Life. These may be left at or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, P .0. Box 127, Columbus, KS 66725.
