Oreta Rink Allred, 85, longtime resident of Pittsburg, KS, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at Lake Lodge Nursing Home in Fort Worth, Texas, where she had been a resident since May 2003.
She was born October 23, 1923 in Cherokee to Bert and Stella Rink. She grew up in Cherokee and graduated from Cherokee High School. One June 1, 1944 she married Phil Allred. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2002.
She was a seamstress for Annshire’s Garment Factory until she retired in the early 1980’s. Oreta is survived by her two children, son, Phil Allred and his wife Linda of Pittsburg, and daughter, Denise Harrod and her husband Larry of Colleyville, Texas; grandchildren Stacey and Kirk Darrow, Pittsburg, Todd and Michelle Harrod, Allen, Texas, Mendy and Shawn Hamilton, Pittsburg and Justin and Krischa Harrod, Cypress, Texas, and 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Janeski of Topeka; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Onis Rink and Bill Rink, sisters. Ruth DeRuse, Fredia Roberts, Dola Thomas and Ruby Gilmore.
According to her wishes, she has been taken for cremation with private services to be held at a later date. Due to unforeseen delays the family will receive friends at the home of Phil Allred on Friday, July 10.
