Travis Lee Newton

Travis Lee Newton, 35 of Kansas City, MO formerly of Pittsburg died Friday June 26, 2009 at his home in Kansas City following a sudden illness.
He was born September 17, 1973 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Roscoe and Karen (Hallacy) Newton.  He attended St. Mary’s Elementary School, was a 1992 graduate of Colgan High School and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1996 from Pittsburg State University.
Travis worked in the field of accounting for several different companies; he lived in Reno, NV for a brief time and worked for Harley Davidson; while living in Kansas City he worked for Black & Veech accounting firm, the City of Kansas City and most recently Interstate Brands Corporation.
He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Survivors include his father and step-mother Roscoe and Dana Newton of Pittsburg; 2 brothers Zachary Newton of Pittsburg, Seth Newton of Joplin, MO; a sister Abby Newton of Pittsburg a nephew Adrian Newton, his maternal grandparents Jim and Betty Jo Peak of Girard and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his mother Karen Newton, a brother Kelly Michael Newton; maternal grandparents James and Ella Marie Hallacy and his paternal grandparents Roscoe and Lula Belle Newton.  
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 3rd at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Father Thomas Stroot as celebrant.  Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Pittsburg.  A prayer vigil service will be 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg where the family will receive friends following the vigil until 8 p.m.  Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com.  Memorial contributions can be made to the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church Memorial Fund or to the American Heart Association.  Memorials may be brought by or mailed to the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
