Roy Bruce Bowman

Roy Bruce Bowman, 86, of Frontenac, KS, died at 11:25 AM, Thursday, January 1, 2009 at the Mt. Carmel Regional Medical Center in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born January 31, 1922 in Jersey City, NJ, the son of Roy and Isabel Bowman.
Raised in NYC, Bruce attended St. John’s School in Long Island, NY, Mt. Hermon Preparatory School in North Field, Mass. and graduated from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
He married Carole Didier in July of 1960, she survives him of the home.
He spent his career as an executive advertising copywriter with Batten Barton Durstine and Osborn Advertising Agency in NYC and Boston and J. Walter Thompson Agency in NYC creating TV, radio, and print ads.
Bruce was a medic in WWII serving in Normandy Northern France Rhineland for two years.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Bowman of the home and his son, James Bowman of Pittsburg.  Other survivors include Carmen and Arnold Hoffman of Pittsburg, Carolyn and Jim Didier of Frontenac, Cousins Bert Van Luyck and family and Delores Hendricks and family and many nieces and nephews in CA, MO, and KS.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Friskel Funeral Home in Frontenac with Rev. Dennis Paschke officiating. Burial will follow in the Frontenac City Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 am Sunday until 7 p.m. and from 8 am Monday until service time.  Condolences may be left at www.friskelfuneralhome.com.  Memorial may be made to the Frontenac United Methodist Church or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice; these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.  The family wishes to thank Dr. Sullivan for his support and care and the wonderful nurturing love and care of the staff at Mt. Carmel Hospital.
