Dennis A. Cashero, 33 of Pittsburg, KS died at 1:40 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2009 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, due to a sudden heart attack.
Dennis was born February 12, 1975 in Leavenworth, KS to James L. “Jim” and Mary E. (Habjan) Cashero. He attended schools in Parsons, KS, graduating from Parsons High School with the class of 1993. He later attended PSU for one year.
Dennis served his country in the United Sates Navy. While serving he received the National Defense Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon and the Battle “E” Ribbon. He was stationed on the USS Gunston Hall. He was honorably discharged on April 16, 1995, as a SN.
Dennis worked for Superior Industries in Pittsburg, in manufacturing, for 10 years. He was currently working for Columbian TecTank Industries in Parsons, KS, as a Laborer for the past year.
Survivors include his parents Jim and Mary Cashero of Pittsburg, KS; brothers Mike, Mark and J.D. and his wife Farrah and Tim Cashero; sister Teresa Jones; along with 8 nieces and nephews Jeff, Mark and Logan Jones; Hunter and Callie Cashero; Tanner Danley and Matty and Ellie Cashero.
Dennis was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents James and Leona Cashero along with maternal grandparents Andrew and Mary Habjan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Pittsburg with Fr. David Marstall as celebrant. Burial is planned for the Ft. Scott National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS, with flag presentation by the United States Naval Funeral Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 522 S. Broadway, Pittsburg, KS, where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friends may call the funeral home after 4pm on Monday. The family suggests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the St. Mary’s Colgan Athletic Fund. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
