Taylor Charlotte Kemp, age 13 passed from this life Thursday, July 16, 2009 from injuries sustained following an automobile accident.
Taylor was born December 17, 1995 in Joplin, Mo. to the union of John and Teresa (Gilstrap) Kemp. She was a very inspirational girl and involved in many activities. She had just completed the seventh grade at Riverton Junior High. She loved school and was currently an honor student. Activities she participated in include cheerleading, track, basketball, volleyball, Riverton softball, band, orchestra, choir. She was a member of the Principals advisory club. She was a winner of the Young Authors Award. Outside of school Taylor enjoyed a variety of hobbies including competitive cheerleading competitions, Pittsburg Star Aquila, Riverton Friends Middle School youth group. She was a teacher at the Riverton Friends vacation Bible school. She loved riding horses and driving the Polaris Ranger with Myron as the co-pilot. Upon the passing of Taylor, the gift of life was given to more than fifty people through the donation of Taylor’s organs.
Taylor is preceded in death with her mother Teresa Kemp. She is survived by her father John Kemp; grandparents Susan Farris and husband Floyd, Gary Gilstrap and wife Kathy, Fred and Charlotte Kemp.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at the Riverton High School, Riverton, Ks. Pastor Wes Davis and Bro. Jeff Adams will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Lowell Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009 at Riverton Friends Church, Riverton, Ks. In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to Teresa and Taylor Kemp Memorial Scholarship Foundation in care of Riverton Friends Church or Derfelt Funeral Homes.
