Kathleen M. Rentfro, 92, of Joplin, MO, formerly of McCune, KS, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Friday, July 3, 2009 at the Joplin Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born September 30, 1916 at Stewardson, Illinois to Elmer and Ruby (Beals) Dappert.
On October 21, 1933, she was married to Delbert L. Rentfro in Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 5, 1986.
Mrs. Rentfro worked as a clerk for the Census Bureau and was a farmer’s wife.
Membership was held in the United Methodist Church of McCune and the Good Sam’s Club of Pittsburg.
Survivors include a son, D. J. Rentfro of Carl Junction, MO; a daughter, Bonnie Wheeler of Carl Junction, MO; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Robert Rentfro, a daughter, Tywink Shepard, two brothers Glenn and Max Dappert, and a sister, Helen Ping.
Graveside services for Mrs. Rentfro are set for 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2009, at the McCune City Cemetery with Rev. Roger Beason officiating. Friends are requested to meet at the cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday (July 5) at the Brenner Mortuary, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Sunday. The family suggests memorials to the United Methodist Church of McCune. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 E. 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762.
