KANSAS CITY, Mo. —

Marcella C. Benedict, 92 of Kansas City, MO died Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at Little Sisters of the Poor.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the McGilley Midtown Chapel, where the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at Little Sisters of the Poor Chapel, 8745 James A. Reed Road.  Burial will be in Greenbush Cemetery, Greenbush, KS at 4:00 p.m. after a visitation at St. Aloysius Church from 3-4 on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Little Sisters of the Poor.   
Marcella was born September 23, 1916 in Girard, KS to Joseph and Mary (O’Reilly) LaForge. After being a homemaker, Marcella worked for the Kansas City/ St. Joseph Diocese from 1969 until her retirement. In later years she served at Della Lamb Center and Minute Circle Friendly House where she was also a quilter, sharing her excellent skills as a seamstress. In addition to her parents, Marcella was preceded in death by two husbands, Eugene Sevart, and Frank Benedict; one son, Frank Benedict, Jr.; 6 brothers and sisters and one grandchild. Marcella’s survivors include two sons, Jim Sevart and wife Cecilia of Kansas City, MO and Tom Sevart and wife Ruth of Blue Springs, MO; daughter Barbara Deane and husband Bill Dye of Kansas City, MO; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
