Vera M. Little, 71, of Parsons, died at 6:35 p.m., Thursday, July 9, 2009 at her home.
She had been in failing health.
She was born on February 21, 1938 at Dodge City, Kansas to Waldo W. and Mary V. (Hutchens) Hitch. She grew up and attended schools at Wichita graduating from Wichita North High School in 1955. She and Ron Little were married on August 17, 1956 at Wichita. He survives of the home.
She lived at Meade and Hutchinson before moving to Parsons in 1965. She worked as a secretary for the Central Avenue Christian Church, Skelgas, and at Dr. Daniel Pauls’ office. She later worked part time at Bowen Pharmacy. She retired for health reasons.
She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Parsons where she belonged to the Disciple Women’s Evening Group. She was a Girl Scout Leader when her daughters were girl scouts. She was also a chartered member of the Precious Moments Club. She enjoyed cross stitching, collecting Precious Moments collectibles, making Christmas ornaments for her family every Christmas, and traveling with her husband, Ron, with his Model A Club, the Wichita A’s. She was an excellent cook, and was known for her delicious apple pies.
Vera’s survivors include her husband, Ron Little, of the home; two daughters, Brenda Schibi, and her husband, Raymond of Parsons, Rhonda Brixius, and her husband, Rick of Wichita; five grandchildren, Ryan and Andrew Schibi of Parsons, Anthony Brixius, and his wife, Jessica of Lawrence, Rachel and Aaron Brixius of Wichita; two great grandchildren, Jasmine and Samantha Brixius of Lawrence; one sister, Barbara Engelhardt, and her husband, Charlie of Pittsburg, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Glendenning and Judy Stewart.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Parsons. Burial will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home from 7 to 8 Monday evening. Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, or the Labette Health Foundation and these may be left at or mailed to the funeral home 112 N. 26th St., P.O.
