Victory R. Williams 63, of Cherokee, KS died 10:10 a.m. Tuesday July 21, 2009 at his home following a long illness.
Victory was born August 14, 1945 in Belfonte, Arkansas to Floyd Haskell and Faye Modiena “McDonald” Williams.  He was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools in Labette County.
In 1964 Victory married Martha Irene Madison in Parsons, KS; they later divorced.  Victory was in the trucking business and worked for Smith Post Yard Trucking.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherokee, KS.  He loved his trucking, dog, his yard and most of all his family.
Survivors include his daughter Tammy Cook and husband Matthew of Chanute, KS; siblings Kathleen Weaver of Rogers, Arkansas, Don Williams of Joplin, Missouri, Betty Smith of Yates Center, Kansas, Pearl Denney of Chetopa, Kansas, and Sue Schomaker of Hutchinson, Kansas; grandson Derrik Cook of Chanute, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Kenneth Williams, Fleeta Hoag and James Williams.
Per family wishes private committal services will take place at a later date at Yates Center Cemetery in Yates Center, Kansas.  In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the First Baptist Church in Cherokee, KS.  Arrangements are by Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Pittsburg, Kansas.
