Jean Esch Ropoulos, a resident of Los Gatos, CA, passed away peacefully at her home in the early hours of Monday January 14, 2013 after a courageous ten-year battle with cancer. During her final days and moments, she was surrounded by her dearly loved family.
Jean was born and raised in Pittsburg, Kansas and graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital of Nursing in Kansas City, Missouri. She moved to California in the early 1960’s. She was a registered nurse for over forty years and spent a large part of her career working at Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose caring for others.
Jean was a generous, warm, fun-spirited person who brought laughter and love to those around her. Jean had many close friends and relatives near and far that she enjoyed speaking with often over the phone or going to the movies, meeting for lunch or just chatting at her house over tea and a sweet.
She is survived by her children: Christen Stephens, Karen Williams and Damon Ropoulos; her son-in-law Paul Stephens and daughter-in-law Karla Ropoulos; her grandchildren Olivia Williams and Kayla Williams; and her sister Mary Frances Cerkey and brother-in-law Ernie Cerkey. Additionally she is survived by many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Thank you, mom, for all the sacrifices you made selflessly for us and for the joy you brought to all our lives. We love you dearly and not a day will go by without missing you or thinking about you.
Family and friends may visit Jean on Wednesday, January 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Alameda Family Funeral Home at 12341 Saratoga-Sunnyvale Rd. in Saratoga, CA 95070.
The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 17 at 12:30 p.m. at Los Gatos Memorial Park at 2255 Los Gatos-Almaden Road in San Jose, CA 95124.
A donation in lieu of flowers can be made to the American Cancer Society or Meals On Wheels Association of America.
