Daniel F. “Danny” Roberts, 59, of rural Scammon, KS, died at 9 am Monday, November 16, 2009 at Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus, KS.
He had been in ill health for 10 years and a patient in the hospital since November 1, 2009.
He was born September 18, 1950 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Leo and Veda Stotts Roberts. Danny had been a life long resident of Cherokee County, Kansas. He was graduated from Columbus High School with the class of 1969.
He married Lisa Grant on October 15, 1988 in Miami, Oklahoma and she survives at the home.
Danny was a pipefitter and welder working on construction until ill health forces his retirement.
Membership was held in St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS; the Pipefitters Local Union #658 in Joplin, MO and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors in addition to his wife Lisa of the home include one daughter Danielle Roberts of the home; four sons Cody Roberts of League City, Texas; Casey Roberts of Columbus; Tyler Soper of Overland Park and Dillon Roberts of Columbus; one brother Robbie Roberts of Galena, KS and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son Cody Soper and one brother Joe Roberts.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am Thursday, November 19, 2009 at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Scammon, KS with Father Chrysostom Ah Maung, as celebrant. The parish rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the church, where the family will receive their friends following the rosary service. Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, 104 W. Main, in Weir, KS. Mr. Roberts will be taken to the church at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
