Della (Dee) Marie Burns, 61 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life peacefully at 10:20 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2013 at her home.
Dee was born October 21, 1951 at Hutchison, Kansas to the union of Clarence and Mary (Kisner) Herman. She was united in marriage to Rodney A. Burns at Hutchison, Kansas, July 5, 1969.
Dee worked as a nurse’s aide in Wathena, Kansas for two years at an early age. She then spent her life as a home maker loving and caring for her family and friends. Spending time with family was the upmost important thing that she cherished most. She was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Baxter Springs. She was a member of the Altar Society and Zeta Rho Sorority.
Dee is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Rodney A. Burns of the home; two sons, Darren Wade Burns and wife Christina, along with step son Ben Bass of Blue Springs, Missouri; Rodney Perry Burns of Loma Linda, Missouri; one sister Mary Ann Webster of Great Bend, Kansas; three brothers LeRoy Herrman, Gerald Herrman, and Darrell Lee Herrman; four grandchildren, Patrick Burns, Hannah Burns, Emmah Burns, and Noah Burns.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Columbus, Kansas. Father Chrysostom Ah Maung will officiate. Rosary will be held at 6:30 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2013 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel, visitation will follow until 8:00 p.m. Dee has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or Freeman Cancer Institute in care of the funeral home, P.O. Box 616, Baxter Springs, KS 66713.
