Fred Gobl, 74, of Mulberry, died at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home of Frontenac, Kan.
Mr. Gobl was born January 6, 1939, at Arma, Kan., the son of Fred and Adeline Pichler Gobl II. Fred was a retired cattleman and coal miner who lived in Mulberry most of his life. He was raised in Arma and graduated from Arma High School in 1956. He later attended auctioneer school. He loved his children and grandchildren, taking care of his cattle and horses, and going to auctions and horse sales. Fred became a Christian and loved going to church and hearing church hymns. He married Loritta “Rita” Douglas on May 28, 1957, at Miami, Okla. Mrs. Gobl survives at the home. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include his wife, Rita of the home; three sons, Dan Gobl and his wife Patty of Girard, Jerry Gobl of Farlington, and a loving son, Fred Gobl Jr. who preceded him in death; a daughter, Kathy Bastin and her husband Robert of Golden City, Mo.; four sisters, Linda Gobl of Arma, Betty Love of McCune, Bernice Rouse of Greer, S.C., and Marie Dieckgrafe of Wichita; four grandchildren, Brandy Lakey, Kayla Bastin, Jenny Bastin and Sarah Bastin; and three great grandchildren, Logan, Lauren and Isabella Lakey. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Fred Gobl Jr.; and a grandson, Jacob Gobl.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at the Bedene Funeral Home at Arma with the Rev. Chris Harrison officiating. Burial will be at the Rosebank Cemetery in Mulberry. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Bedene Chapel. The family suggests memorials to the Mulberry Funeral Dinner Fund.
