Wilma J. Tripp, age 80, a resident of Ft. Scott, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at the Mercy Hospital of Ft. Scott. She was born October 28, 1932, in Lamar, Missouri, the daughter of John Wesley Roeber and Ella Rose Roeber. She married Raymond Louis Tripp on August 19, 1951. They later divorced. Wilma worked for many years for the Western Insurance Company which later became American States Insurance Company. She later worked for Wal-Mart and for Sunbeam Christian Pre-School. She was a member of the Ft. Scott Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School and helped with Vacation Bible School. In her earlier years, she helped with the Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. She had also been a member of the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include four daughters, Rhonda McAlister and husband, Ted, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Sandra Buntain and husband, Mike, Springfield, Missouri, Marsha Heiser and husband, Jerry, Prescott, Kansas, and Laura McDysan and husband, Lee, Berryton, Kansas; six grandchildren, Samantha McAlister, Kyle Buntain, Robin Hilger and husband, Jeremiah, Jamie Armstrong and husband, Jeff, Dustin McDysan and Aaron McDysan, and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Marie Sivewright, Kansas City, Missouri, Johnnie Adkins, Mabank, Texas, and Millie Messer, Garden Grove, California, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, a sister, Lois Snowbarger, and a brother, Herbert Roeber.
There was cremation. Rev. Scott Moore will conduct a memorial service at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene. Private burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Pittsburg, Kansas. Memorials are suggested to the Ft. Scott Church of the Nazarene and may be left in care of the Cheney Witt Chapel, 201 S. Main, P.O. Box 347, Ft. Scott, KS 66701.
