Susan L. Lawson, 47, of Columbus, Ind., died at 8:09 p.m. Saturday, August 23, 2008 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Ind. Susan attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Pittsburg, was a 1978 graduate of Pittsburg High School and a 1991 graduate of Pittsburg School of Cosmetology. Susan was a cosmetologist in Pittsburg and a bank teller at First State Bank & Trust in Pittsburg and at CENTRA Credit Union in Columbus. She was a member of Faith Ministries and enjoyed dancing, playing cards and watching TV.
The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home Washington Street in Columbus with the Rev. Tony McClendon and Joe Tucker officiating. Calling will be from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 9 a.m. until service time Thursday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Parsons, KS December 23, 1960, Susan was the daughter of Houston “Junior” and Rossa Mack Stevens; she married George E. Lawson Jr. in Kansas.
Survivors include her ex-husband, George E. Lawson Jr. of Columbus; daughters, Amber Russ of Joplin, Mo., and Daneisha and Aaliyah Lawson both of Columbus. Four grandchildren; a brother, Houston “Butch” Stevens Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her father; her mother, Rossa Henderson and a sister, Barbara Barber.
