John J. Moriconi, 66, of Frontenac, KS died at 7:33 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2008 at his home after a long illness.
He was born March 24, 1942 in Pittsburg, KS to John A. and Josephine (Pichelmeier) Moriconi. He attended area schools graduating from Frontenac High School with the class of 1960. He went on to attend Kansas State Teachers College (know today as PSU) earning a Bachelors degree in Social Work.
John served his country in the United States Air Force from 1961 - 1966. He served in the Strategic Air Command at Walker A.F.B. in Roswell, NM.
He worked for SRS, for 33 years, as an Economic Employment Specialist, retiring in 2004.
John was of the Catholic faith. He belonged to the Frontenac American Legion; Joplin area singles group and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a former Frontenac City Council Member and a former Captain with the Frontenac Reserve Police Officers unit.
He is survived by his daughters Charlotte Moriconi of Goodman, MO; Jana Forrest of Wichita, KS and Ryann Gariglietti of Pittsburg, KS; a brother Chuck Moriconi and sister Maryann Burke both of Frontenac, KS; along with 3 grandchildren Chloe and Lily Gariglietti and Logan Forrest.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Marilyn Moriconi.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2008 at the State Park Corner Pavilion at highways 69 and 160 with Fr. Robert McElwee officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at the Pavilion. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. on Monday at Friskel Funeral Home, 230 E.
