Matthew Edward Bass 23, of Pittsburg, KS died 4:00am Sunday June 10, 2012 in a car accident east of Pittsburg, KS.
Matthew was born November 29, 1988 in Mannheim, Germany to Timmy G. and Gerianne Marie (Rodgers) Bass. He settled in this area after his father retired from the United States Army and was a Graduate of Pittsburg High School in 2007. He went to Weir schools from kindergarten to the 7th grade and started in Pittsburg Schools in the 8th grade. Matthew played Football, Baseball and Tennis and later found his love for music by picking up the guitar. He later played in several bands of his friends and hoped to one day become a star. He fathered a son London Cole Bass with Brooklyn Westoff. He loved and cherished his son and was active in his life. He worked in construction after high school and later found a nitch working for Miller’s Professional Imaging as a Printer. He will be most remembered as an outgoing young man who loved life and cherished his Lord and Savior. He was a member of the Potters House Christian Fellowship.
Survivors include his son London Cole Bass of Pittsburg, KS; his parents; sister Crystal Blesie and husband James of Kansas City, KS; maternal grandmother Isabel Rodgers of Wynona, OK; nephews Dylan and Aiden Blesie and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Betty and Johnnie Bass, maternal grandfather Edward Rodgers and maternal aunt Christine Fudge.
Funeral Services will be 11am Saturday June 16, 2012 at the Bath Naylor Funeral Home in Pittsburg, KS with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS. Family will receive friends from 7-8pm Friday June 15, 2012 at the Bath Naylor Funeral Home; friend may call after 11am Friday. In lieu of flowers the family ask expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to the London Bass Memorial Fund. Friends may drop off or mail memorials to the Bath Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
