Harold L. Malcolm, 77, of rural Pittsburg, passed away at 6:43 p.m., Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at his home.
He was born on September 9, 1935, in Cherokee, KS. He grew up there and graduated from Crawford Community High School in 1954. He worked for Sears Roebuck and Company in Kansas City, MO, for 38 years and retired as a supervisor in 1991.
On January 2, 1955, he married Kay Page of rural Pittsburg. They moved to Independence, MO, and lived there for 38 years and returned to Pittsburg, KS after retirement.
They were married for 58 years and had three children, 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Harold is survived by his wife, Kay Malcolm of Pittsburg, two daughters, Bonnie York and husband, Tom of Independence, MO, Connie Manns and husband, Joe of Opolis, KS, son, Kurt Malcolm and wife, Lori of Lee’s Summit, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Mabel Malcolm, brothers, Floyd Jr., and Arthur Lee Malcolm and sisters, Betty Briskin and Lillie Troop.
A service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at the Brenner Mortuary, with Reverend Dan Moss officiating. Burial will follow in the Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Cherokee Baptist Church.
