James Everitt, 76, of Fort Scott, died Tuesday morning, February 12, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was born March 11, 1936 in Girard, Kansas the son of Ray S. and Mamie Leatha (Goff) Everitt.
James worked as a supervisor for Topco Laminates for many years and also drove for them when needed. He enjoyed playing golf and cards. He also played pool competitively and was a member of a league. He loved and enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Janetta Lynn Caudill of the home; his children, Amy Everitt Ray of Nevada, Missouri, Hank Crump of Littleton, Colorado, and Tonya Johnson of Girard, Kansas; a brother, Bob Everitt of Wisconsin, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Madelin Shaffer and Elizabeth Slape, and a brother, Chuck Everitt.
Rev. Steve Cole will conduct graveside services at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2013 at the Girard Cemetery in Girard, Kansas. Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2013 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the Konantz-Cheney Funeral Home. Condolences may be emailed to expressions@konantz-cheney.com.
