Clarence Richard Horyna, 54, died on March 4, 2013, at Labette Health in Parsons.

He was born on September 12, 1958, at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Clarence E. and Grace Lucille (Alexander) Horyna.

He married Diane Flores on Feb. 21, 1976, at Great Bend. He worked as an environmental consultant for Crown Solutions and Water Quality Control for the City of Great Bend, the City of LaCrosse, the City of Pittsburg and Public Wholesale Water District No. 23, Fredonia. Mr. Horyna was an Erie resident since 2010 coming from Pittsburg. He was inducted into the Who’s Who in 1992 for his work as an environmentalist.

Survivors include wife Diane, of the home; two sons, Heath Horyna and his wife Kristy, of Topeka, and Ira Horyna and his wife Jennifer, of Frontenac; two daughters, Heather Horyna of Olathe, and Shanead Horyna of Pittsburg; seven sisters, Terri Chartier and her husband David of Great Bend, Barbara Malone and her husband Tom of Great Bend, Sherri Kober of Great Bend, Audra Brent of Gillette, Wyo., Jan Johnson and husband Brett of Watson, Ill., Denise Pina of Hutchinson, and Debra Pratt of Manhattan; seven grandchildren, Vincent Vilott, Victoria Vilott, Karlee Horyna, Karsyn Horyna, Kamryn Horyna, Gunner Horyna and Gannon Horyna; 26 nieces; and 16 nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one niece, Alyshia Hamblin; and one granddaughter, Kynzee Horyna.

Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at Bryant Funeral Home in Great Bend. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 9, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Timken. Celebrant will be Father Pascal Klein. Horyna will be interred at the Bohemian National Cemetery in Timken. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Water for People, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
