Norma Jean Brooks, 72, of Pittsburg, KS, passed away at 2:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Via Christi Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on May 5, 1940 at Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of Ellis and Marguerite Fossman. She attended Pittsburg Schools and graduated from Pittsburg High School.

On July 20, 1957, she was united in marriage to Bobbie Brooks at Miami, OK, he survives of the home.

Mrs. Brooks worked for Mulberry Limestone, Parsons Ammunition Plant, and Dollar General.
Membership was held at Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bob, of the home; two sons, Dennis Brooks and his wife Laurie of Pittsburg, KS, and Richard Brooks and his wife Tami of Olathe, KS; three sisters, Colleen Fossman of Waskom, TX, Connie Baker of Waskom, TX, and Barbara Tustin of Pittsburg, KS; three grandchildren Bobby Brooks of Pittsburg, KS, Jessica Brooks of Olathe, KS, and Jenni Brooks of Olathe, KS; two great-grandchildren, Ethan Brooks and Trinity Brooks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rickey Fossman, and a great-grandson, Kylor Brooks.

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Brenner Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until service time, at the Brenner Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the Grace United Methodist Church. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Friends may leave condolences online at www.brennermortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Brenner Mortuary, Pittsburg, KS.
