Herman Lee Brummett, 74, of Kearney, Missouri passed away on March 14, 2013. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am, Monday, March 18th at Hidden Valley Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 am in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, 3637 Broadway, Kansas City, MO 64111.
Herman was born in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1938, the son of the late Harold and Evelyn Brummett. He was proud to serve as a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department, first as an officer and then as a detective until his retirement.
He enjoyed outdoor activities. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and attending events that involved his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Chris Brummett, and younger brother, Jerry Brummett.
He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Jerry; children, Carla (Greg) Bishop, Carolyn (Rob) McLees, daughter in law, Lisa Brummett, Tammy Shelton, Bill Munson; grandchildren, Brant and Brendan, Jake and Rachel, Courtney and Trey; as well as a beloved dog, Manny.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 925 East 92 Highway, Kearney.
