Laura Mary Tindel, age 97, of Pittsburg, KS passed away at 1:15 a.m. Friday March 15, 2013 at Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, KS following a long illness.
Laura was born November 27, 1915 in Pittsburg, KS the daughter of William James and Opal Marie (O’Connor) Scott.  Laura was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Pittsburg High School.  She later furthered her education at the Missouri School of Cosmetology.  Laura worked as a beautician at her home for many years.
On August 22, 1936 Laura married Richard “Dick” Tindel in Pittsburg, KS.
He preceded her in death on February 21, 1993.
Laura was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Pittsburg, KS, the National AARP Golden Rails, the Order of Eastern Star (50 year member).
She was known as”Mom” Tindel to the Pittsburg Community Theater Group as well as at the Episcopal Church.  She will most be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her son W.R. “Dick” Tindel and wife Marilyn of Pittsburg, KS and her daughter Carolyn S. Longerot of Joplin, MO.  In addition she is survived by a brother Robert M. Scott and wife Alice of Springfield, MO and a son-in-law David Kahn of Shawnee, KS, four grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Robert James Tindel , a daughter Nancy Marie Kahn and a brother William Anthony Scott.
Graveside services will be at 11 am, Tuesday March 19, 2013 at Highland Park Cemetery in Pittsburg, KS with Father Bill Wolfe officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Monday, March 18, 2013 at Bath-Naylor Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorials to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.  Friends may drop off or mail memorials to Bath-Naylor Funeral Home 522 S.
