Larry W. Bell 64, of Cherokee, KS died Tuesday August 5, 2008 at his home following a short illness.
He was born October 11, 1943 in Pittsburg, KS the son of Erland and Pearl (Bell) Storie. Larry was a lifelong resident of the area and attended area schools.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Larry married Jo Ann Hardesty on April 3, 1962 in Pittsburg, KS; they were later divorced and she preceded him in death July 16, 2007; he then married Sharon Parent on May 1, 1996, in Pittsburg, KS; she survives at the home.
He worked as a welder for several area company’s (McNally’s Manufacturing, Churchill in Chanute and ACME Brick Company) he worked for over 30 years retiring due to ill health.
Larry was a member of the Weir Baptist Church, the Cherokee Ruitan Club; he enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include his wife Sharon of the home; Children-Kathie Bass of Lamar, MO, Laura Skinner and husband Tom of Jacksonville, MO, Andrew Bell of Mountain Home, AR, Mary Reeves and husband Caleb of Pittsburg, Duke Jameson and wife Sherrie of Pittsburg, Tara Mitchell and husband Tim of Pittsburg and Cara Self also of Pittsburg; brothers Jim Bell of Pittsburg, David Bell of Carl Junction, MO; a sister Penny Bell of Pittsburg; sister-in-law Stella Bell of Pittsburg; 12 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Larry W. Bell Jr., step-son Trampas Jameson, son-in-law Mike Bass, brother Jack Bell and sister-in-law Mary Bell.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday August 9th at the Cherokee City Cemetery with Reverend Jamie Tickel officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Friday at the Bath-Naylor funeral home in Pittsburg where friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday. Condolences can be sent to www.bathnaylor.com.
