I’m writing in support of Angela Trimble for Crawford County Attorney. Trimble is well qualified, having 17 years experience. She was the assistant to the previous county attorney and has prosecuted major cases such as murder and rape. In addition, she has experience as a trial lawyer and public defender in several different SEK counties. Judge Noland recently asked Trimble to defend an important murder case because of her experience.
The incumbent has gone over budget the past 2 out of 3 years and appears will be over budget again in 2012. These records are available to the public at the Crawford County Treasurer’s office.
When Gayoso claims a 96% conviction rate I am puzzled how that figure is determined. The record for 2011 shows a total of 360 felony cases, 227 guilty pleas, 76 dismissals, 46 diversions, 1 trial to court, 3 trials by jury and 7 other. How does that become 96%?
Forty-six felony diversions is a very high rate. This can be dangerous to the community when someone is given diversion. They are out on the streets instead of behind bars.
Another concern I have with Gayoso is that his wife is employed by his office making close to $1000 a week for working only one day.
Angela Trimble is an honest hardworking attorney who will serve our community well. I trust her to be straightforward and accountable. She has the right character and experience. My vote is going to Angela Trimble.
