PITTSBURG —
Dear editor:
Saturday, Oct. 27 is ‘Make a Difference Day.’ This letter is to let people know we still need volunteers to help with the Highway 69 bypass cleanup.
We will start at 10 a.m. and meet at the RV Park at 20th and the bypass. All the necessities will be provided: gloves, vests, bags, etc.
These are my top 10 reasons for picking up litter:
1. It’s the right thing to do.
2. Make Pittsburg a more beautiful place to live.
3. Good exercise/weight control
4. Instant gratification
5. Might find something worth keeping
6. Helping the environment.
7. Good camaraderie among pickers
8. Enjoy waving to all the truckers driving by.
9. Hot dogs and drinks afterward
10. It’s free — doesn’t cost a cent.
If you’d like to volunteer, but can’t help this time, there will be other opportunities. We have 365 days a year to help pick up litter, in our neighborhoods, downtown streets, and shopping areas. Pittsburg has a lot of pride. Let’s show others how much by keeping it beautiful!
