What a blessing Pittsburg and Crawford County continue to receive with the annual event named Project Warmth. This unique happening, now 25 years old, was the brain child of Chuck Kallaus, the first Pastor of Wesley House and Nancy Gammill, an assistant Pastor of First United Methodist Church. They realized there was a need for winter utility help for many of our neighbors, and brought their concern to the Pittsburg Ministerial Association. As a result, Project Warmth was begun, and continues.
This year’s chili, soup and, home-baked pie feast, the 25th, was the most successful yet. It is all due to the generous participation of so many in our community. Those who come to eat, those who give extra donations, the silent sponsors, the people who provide entertainment and so much labor, the committee that organizes the event, the people and organizations who supply, at no cost, all the food and the supplies. The people of the community who support this whole idea and make it happen.
It was my privilege and personal blessing to be able to assist with this project for many years. And, I am so thankful that so many of you are willing to continue to provide this blessing to others.
