FORT SCOTT —
I don’t know how many of you have had a chance to meet Tobias Schlingensiepen who is running for US Congress. He is the sort of person we all wish would run for office. He is not beholden to any special interest groups (like his opponent Jenkins is with her connections to insurance companies and big banks). Tobias isn’t a career politician. He is the pastor of a church who became concerned about the extreme direction those on the right have taken us and the vast amounts of corporate money buying elections. He decided he had to run for office. He knows from the experience of his ancestors in Germany during Hitler’s reign of terror what happens when good people don’t stand up to unscrupulous power seekers.
Tobias is a person who inspires confidence in those who meet him. After talking to him and hearing his ideas, you know instinctively that he is someone you can trust to do the right thing and not be corrupted by Washington. You can learn about him at Tobias for Congress on Facebook.
Jenkins has been nothing more than a puppet for her party. She has voted the party line 96% of the time. We hardly ever see her here. She keeps in touch by sending out slick, colorful brochures, which are meaningless and a wasteful and unnecessary use of our tax money.
I hope you will vote for Tobias next Tuesday and elect a good representative who will truly speak for us in Washington.
