Dear Editor,
I read the article about the RV fire on N. Rouse. I was in the area and saw the fire and listened on my scanner in my truck to the entire fire call. I heard the initial report of heavy smoke from a motorist in the area. The Pitsburg PD sent an officer to check it out. The officer requested the FD and they responded with 2 Quints and a Pumper. The Fire Apparatus was fully staffed and I watched as the Firefighters did their job quickly and safely. The first in Quint attacked the fire while the second in Quint laid a supply line from the fire hydrant. The Pumper crew then opened the hydrant and charged the supply line.
ALL of the Firefighters did their job and did it well!!! They also had a very good response time.
I watched and listened and was very impressed! That RV was fully involved in fire and smoke Before the fire was ever reported.
The residents of this area should be proud and commend the fire departments and the Firefighters of this area. Pittsburg and Girard have the best full-time departments around, the Volunteer departments in this area are second to none!!
Next time you see a Firefighter, full-time or volunteer, go up and thank them for a great job.
