Dear Editor:
If you’re planning on driving somewhere for the Thanksgiving holiday, remember that this is a busy time of the year to be on the road. This is Trooper David Petrey with the Kansas Highway Patrol with some simple advice on making your trip safer. Don’t exceed the posted speed limit or drive too fast for the conditions of the roadway in rain or fog.
Did you know crash severity and the chances of death or injury double for every 10 miles per hour that a vehicle travels above 50 miles per hour and most speed-related crashes occur after dark? Please slow down, always buckle up and have a safe holiday weekend.
