To the editor,
It is disturbing to watch the city of Pittsburg attempt to transform a well-working, privately run trash service into a city run service. It is also enlightening to look at Mr. Hall’s past work history. Mr. Hall worked for the city of Kansas City, Missouri from 1991 to 2008. Guess what? They have a city-run trash service. He then went to Ulysess, Kansas and worked from 2008 until 2012. Lo & behold, they now have a city-run trash service. He then came to Pittsburg and here we go again. Mr. Hall wants a city-run trash service. I don’t know if he is being pushed by members of the city commission or if he is doing it on his own. Kansas City, MO has a population of around 460,000. Our population has been in the 18,000 to 20,000 range since the 1960s. We like our small town ways, with our privately run trash service. If the city manager and the commissioners like the big-city methods, with government running everything, I would suggest that they move to the big city. We like our city the way it is and don’t need any added costs to our living.
